Southside Uniting Church in Holland Park is known in the local area for being an inclusive community.

Originally St David's Presbyterian Church. On 22 June 1977 the congregation became part of the Uniting Church in Australia, becoming known as St David's Uniting Church. Following many years of ministry in the local area, in 2015 the congregations of Holland Park Central Uniting Church and St David's Uniting Church combined to form Holland Park Uniting Church. More From 'About Us'

Ministry Team

At SSUC, all our Ministry Agents serve the Congregation through the different areas of ministry where they have a calling and conviction to serve in. In this way, they complement their calling to their communities with connection to wider ministry, whether it is in supporting our various communities in areas such as Worship or Children's ministries, or in equipping our communities for greater impact in our region through Spiritual Growth, Outreach or New Mission Initiatives.

In his role as Lead Minister, Rev. David Fender (Top Left) is an interface between the various ministry areas in the life of our church, connecting the areas of Children, Youth and Families, New Mission, Outreach, Pastoral Care and Worship - with the work of our communities. As well as being our Lead Minister, David develops the Pastoral Care Ministry of Southside Uniting Church. He also serves as community minister for the Tarragindi community. Through preaching and teaching, pastoral care, leadership of groups, operational planning and personal example, David is a carrier and embedder of our new congregation's DNA.

Our Ministry Team includes Rachel Manton (Bottom Centre), SSUC Resource Manager who coordinates and manages many of the administrative and business aspects of our congregation. Rachel brings experience from corporate and legal sectors into our congregation, and as a former UCA Pastor and Trinity College Graduate; Rachel also brings a passion for ministry and God's Word into the administrative elements of our congregation.

Rev. Esteban Liévano (Top Right) is the Community Minister at Mt Gravatt, as Outreach Minister he contributes to strategic direction and provides operational leadership to assist our Congregation and its members to reach out, locally, nationally and internationally to witness God’s love in word and deed. In this area, Esteban works with leaders in each of our communities to identify areas of community outreach that are relevant to each community. In some cases these will be in community activities such as S.A.G.E. and 3FS in Mt Gravatt and Holland Park, or the Men's Shed Ministry at Yeronga. Esteban also provides leadership to our worship ministry across the congregation.

Rev. Jock Dunbar (Bottom Left) is Community Minister at Holland Park and Yeronga and also leads our New Missions and Spiritual Growth ministry areas. Within New Missions, Jock works closely with a small group of lay and ordained people from Southside to develop innovative missional engagement with the local community. This group, known as the MEG (Mission Experiment Group), is a unique action-learning experience based on the work of Alan Roxburgh and adaptive leadership. Jock has a passion to see people connect with God in meaningful and empowering ways, which feeds his role in leading the ministry of Spiritual Growth. Jock has oversight of the small group ministry, discipleship pathway, leadership development, and spiritual gifts discernment. Jock brings a sense of fun, creativity and contemplation to his roles.

Ps. Richard Moors (Bottom Right) leads as Children Youth & Family Pastor. Sunday School programmes are held at each of our communities during term time and are part of our Sunday Worship/Family Services. Additionally, Richard is the Chaplain for Brisbane 45th Boys Brigade and is involved with the ministries of Brisbane 45th Boys and Girls Brigades, situated at Tarragindi and Mt Gravatt.
